About Iceland

Iceland is an only 2 hours and 50 minutes flight from Amsterdam. The best time to visit Iceland is june - august. Most inland roads will be open, you will have the biggest chance to see some seabirds, most flowers are blooming and the temperature is the nicest.
On the other hand, pictures make believe that Iceland is beautiful in winter too.

Transportation:
Iceland’s public transportation is consists of busses and ferries. National flights can be made to reach the bigger cities. This is of course if you don’t feel like driving great distances. In Large cities such as Reykjavík and Akureyri taxi’s are available.
The easiest way to move across the island is by car. In the larger cities rental cars are available. It depends on your plans whether you want to rent a normal car or a four-wheel drive. To be able to rent a car you have to be at least 20 years of age and have your drivers license for at least 1 year.
Climate:
“If you don’t like the weather, you’ve got to wait for 10 minutes.” This is an Icelandic saying but it’s true. The weather can change in a matter of minutes in Iceland. In summer the temperatures are between
10-15 degrees Celcius.
Money:
The currency is the Icelandic Crown. All well know creditcards, such as Visa, Mastercard, Dinersclub and American Express, are accepted in almost every hotel, restaurant, bar and shop (as well as supermarkets). If you want to pay cash, you can get money at ATM’s and banks or post offices in the bigger cities.
